Case Filed Against BP After Offshore Worker Slips on Muddy Ladder
- Arnold & Itkin
Arnold & Itkin attorneys have filed suit in Harris County, Texas against BP on behalf of an offshore worker who suffered serious injuries while working on one of the company's platforms. The conditions that caused our client's fall were entirely within BP's control, and the company failed to address them.
Our client was using a ladder on the platform when he slipped because the ladder was covered in mud and lacked the nonskid protection that offshore equipment is supposed to have. We expect the evidence to reveal that BP failed to properly maintain the work area and failed to ensure the ladder was safe for the workers who were required to use it during offshore operations.
The injuries that followed have required medical treatment and have affected our client's ability to do his job. This should not have happened. Keeping a ladder clean and outfitted with proper nonskid surfacing is one of the most basic safety obligations an offshore operator has, and BP fell short.
Our offshore injury attorneys are committed to holding BP accountable for failing to provide a reasonably safe place to work and for exposing offshore workers to preventable slip and fall hazards.
