“No matter what time, no matter what place, no matter what issue, we will be there to fight for you.”
Biography
Before Tyler Merkley argued his first case in law school, he had already stood alongside some of the country’s best trial lawyers in the courtroom. That early experience set the tone for everything that followed.
Tyler grew up in Houston, Texas, and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama with a degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics. That analytical foundation would prove to be an asset in a field where understanding complex technical evidence can make or break a case.
Rather than heading straight to law school, Tyler joined Arnold & Itkin LLP first. During that time, he assisted with three full jury trials that resulted in one eight-figure settlement, one eight-figure verdict, and one nine-figure verdict. He also attended and assisted with more than 50 depositions, gaining a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build and win a case before he ever sat in a law school classroom.
When Tyler did attend the University of Texas School of Law, he made an immediate impact in trial advocacy. In his second semester, he earned the Best Advocate award in an advanced interscholastic mock trial competition, where he tried the case solo against two third-year students. The following year, he took the Outstanding Advocate award at the Premiere Interscholastic Mock Trial Competition in Austin. In his third year, he won the TEX-ABOTA Best in Texas Voir Dire Competition, besting every law school in the state, and was named champion of the Texas Regional Division of the AAJ STAC National Mock Trial Competition. Those achievements earned him induction into the Order of the Barristers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Art and Science of Advocacy.
Today, Tyler represents clients in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases at Arnold & Itkin LLP. He brings the same preparation and refusal to back down that have defined every stage of his career. Because for the people he represents, nothing less will do.
