Case Filed for Deckhand Injured in Tugboat Fall
- Arnold & Itkin
Arnold & Itkin LLP recently filed suit in Dallas County, Texas, on behalf of a deckhand who was injured after being forced to work in unsafe conditions aboard a tugboat.
While moving hoses from a second-level deck, our client fell when the floor grating collapsed beneath him—an entirely preventable hazard. This dangerous failure caused significant injuries and lasting physical pain. The lawsuit names the vessel’s owner and operator, American Commercial Barge Line, LLC, for failing to ensure the safety of the crew and maintain a seaworthy vessel.
Maritime employers are required to provide safe working environments and properly maintain their vessels. When they fail to meet these basic standards, hardworking seamen are the ones who suffer.
Arnold & Itkin’s maritime attorneys are proud to represent this young man and will fight tirelessly to hold those responsible accountable for the unsafe conditions that caused his injuries.
