Case Filed on Behalf of Client Killed Working on Barge

Arnold & Itkin’s offshore wrongful death attorneys recently filed a case on behalf of the family of a young man who lost his life while performing tow work in the Baton Rouge area. The worker was on a barge when it collided with another vessel, causing him to fall into the water and drown. His captain had a duty to operate the barge safely. To make matters worse, the employer let down the young man by failing to provide proper rescue training. He left behind a loving family, including a young daughter who will now grow up without her father.

Accidents are always avoidable, and employers are responsible for making sure that they do not happen. If an accident does occur, proper safety practices should be in place to save lives. Training saves lives and prevents accidents from turning into tragedies. In this case, our client and his family were let down twice by his employer, and it cost him his life. We are proud to represent this young man and his family and will fight to win the compensation they deserve.
