Passenger Missing from Royal Caribbean Cruise

Currently, Coast Guard crews are searching for a 46-year-old man who is believed to have fallen 100 feet overboard from the Navigator of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, sailing off the Florida coast. It was reported by the cruise line at 11 p.m. on Friday that a guest on the ship had seen a man falling from a balcony.

That, however, all that is known about the circumstances around the man's fall.

Both crew members of the ship and the Coast Guard have since begun searching for the man. On early Saturday morning, the Coast Guard told the ship they would assume control of the search so that the Navigator of the Seas could continue its journey to Port Everglades, FL, according to a statement from Royal Caribbean. The cruise arrived at its destination yesterday.

Since that time, the Coast Guard has searched more than 1,600 square nautical miles. "Royal Caribbean’s Care Team is providing support to the guest’s family and our thoughts and prayers are with them," said Royal Caribbean.
