Shrimp Boat Capsizes Near Baytown

On Monday afternoon, a privately owned shrimp boat ("Mr. Anthony") capsized near Baytown in Cedar Bayou. According to the most recent reports, the overturning of the boat occurred just three miles from the Fred Hartman Bridge and was reported to the U.S. Coast Guard at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Currently, search crews are working from boats and helicopter alike in an effort to search for one passenger who is believed to be trapped underneath the vessel and one individual who is still missing. Three of the people aboard the ship were rescued earlier from the top of the shrimp boat.

The rescue mission currently involves the Harris County dive team, as well as the Port of Houston; the Baytown Fire Department is also currently on the scene. The crew is currently working to cut a hole in the boat and pumping oxygen as they fight to free the trapped individual.

So far, there have been no details as to what caused the capsizing of the boat.
