Suit Filed on Behalf of Injured Offshore Well Tester
Posted on
Attorneys Cory Itkin and Jason Itkin from Arnold & Itkin LLP recently took on a case in Galveston County, TX before the Honorable Barbara Roberts. The plaintiff was an offshore well tester working on an inland drilling barge in Barataria Bay, Louisiana.
The Lafayette resident was employed upon the Axxis Justice when another barge docked to deliver some specialized tools. The company Axxis Drilling setup a makeshift gangway between the two barges by utilizing a ladder. When attempting to cross this ladder to help deliver the supplies, the plaintiff fell and suffered serious back injuries that eventually required corrective back surgery.
The drilling company argued not only that the blame rested on the plaintiff and third parties, but that no injuries were sustained by the plaintiff. They did not offer to settle the case. Arnold & Itkin did not back down and took the claim to court. The end result? They were able to recover a $2,795,620 verdict on behalf of their client.
