Case Filed for Tankerman Injured by Unsafe Gangway
Posted on
Arnold & Itkin LLP offshore attorneys recently filed suit on behalf of a tankerman who was injured by an unsafe gangway at BOSTCO’s terminal at the Houston Ship Channel. The tankerman was descending a gangway to board a barge when the vertical support beam broke and made him fall. Our client injured his neck and suffered several herniated discs in the fall.
His injuries were a direct result of whatever unsafe conditions led to the support beam’s collapse. In our experience, it’s rare when an unsafe condition is unknown by the supervisors on a vessel—which means most accidents on a vessel or dock can be prevented as long as ship operators care enough to provide maintenance and repairs. Whether they were aware of it or not, however, our attorneys aim to prove that the gangway’s safety was the responsibility of those in charge.
Our offshore injury firm is looking forward to helping another maritime worker get the compensation he deserves and the medical treatment he needs. The case was filed in Harris County, Texas.
