Jones Act Claim Filed for Worker Who Lost His Thumb

The Jones Act lawyers at Arnold & Itkin LLP filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Florida seaman injured on a well intervention vessel. The roustabout had his hand crushed while working with cables. He needed his thumb amputated, in addition to sustaining other severe injuries. In a profession where a tight grip is necessary for virtually all tasks, losing a thumb is catastrophic.

While working aboard vessels at sea—and especially while doing dangerous work—offshore workers deserve the security that employers can offer after a life-changing accident. Losing a thumb is enough to end a person's career, especially in a career as labor-intensive as seaman's. Our goal is simple: to ensure our client gets exactly what he needs to recover from his injuries without fear of the future. We believe that includes medical care, lost wages, and lost earning capacity.

Arnold & Itkin looks forward to helping another maritime client recover for his offshore injuries.

The case was filed in Harris County, Texas.
