Today Is National Maritime Day

In 1933, Congress designated May 22 of each year as National Maritime Day. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the men and women who risk their life daily while working offshore.

The maritime industry is a pillar of the American economy. Maritime workers provide an excellent example of the work ethic and dedication that makes our nation great. However, maritime work can be amongst the most dangerous occupations in the country.

Each year, thousands of seaman, longshoremen, and offshore oil and gas workers are injured or killed. According to OSHA, maritime workers suffer fatality rates that are seven times higher than the average American worker. All too often, companies cut corners exposing maritime workers to undue harm by placing profits over safety.

At Arnold & Itkin, we find that unacceptable. We work to hold dangerous companies responsible for their wrongdoing and strive to help improve worker safety nationwide.

We have helped hundreds of victims of offshore accidents and their loved ones. Our firm has recovered more than $1 billion in 5 years for our clients, including several multi-million dollar recoveries for injured maritime workers. We will continue to fight for the rights of maritime workers and their families. Please let us know if we can ever be of assistance to you, your family, or friends.
