Samson Offshore, a subsidiary of Samson Investment Company, is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Samson Investment Company is a privately held oil and gas development, exploration, and production company with International and Offshore Divisions headquartered in Houston, Texas. Development drilling and acquisitions have been the company’s main focus, but recent significant investments are being made in exploratory drilling.

Samson is a premier oil and gas exploration and production company active in many domestic and international markets. Samson Offshore’s key producing regions include East Texas, the Texas Gulf Coast, and the Gulf of Mexico. Samson Investment Company producing regions include the Anadarko Basin in west-central Oklahoma, the Permian Basin in West Texas, the San Juan Basin, the Green River Basin, and the Williston Basin.

Samson Investment’s assets include more than 1,200 employees and an energy asset base of 85% natural gas, which provides a steady cash flow. The company operates more than 2,400 producing wells and has an interest in over 10,000 producing wells. Samson is one of the top 20 independent producers of oil and gas in the U.S., with production facilities in the U.S., Canada, Venezuela and Russia, in addition to exploration acreage in Brazil.

Terry Barr, President of Samson Oil and Gas, had strong words for BP regarding the April 2010 rig explosion, fire, and leak from a ruptured exploration well in the Gulf of Mexico. Barr stated in a July 11, 2010 Wall Street Journal editorial that the oil disaster was about human, not system, failure, mentioning several “red flags” that were ignored by BP.

Samson Offshore’s primary competitors are Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, and Encana Corporation.

The local Houston contact for Samson Offshore is Michael Coffield, Vice President of Business Development for Samson International, Ltd., at 1301 Travis Street, Suite 1900, Houston, TX 77002.
