Main Ports in Georgia

We have included helpful information about the main port cities in Georgia. We represent workers at these ports and who work on vessels departing from these areas:

  1. Port of Savannah, Georgia is located at the mouth of the Savannah River on the state's Atlantic Ocean coast. It is a key industrial seaport and has served a vital role in the city's economy through the years. The port's facilities line both sides of the Savannah River approximately 18 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. In 2007, the port handled nearly 19.5 million tons of cargo. The two main terminals serving the port are the Garden City Terminal and the Ocean Terminal. The Port of Savannah is operated by the Georgia Ports Authority.
  2. Port of Brunswick, Georgia is located on St. Simons Sound at the southeast corner of the state. As one of the most productive ports on the Atlantic Coast of the U.S., some of the products imported and exported through the Port of Georgia include foreign automobiles, wood pulp, paper products, wheat, soybeans, corn, oats, cement, salt, sand, barley malt and heavy machinery. The Georgia Ports Authority operates the Port of Brunswick, which includes four terminals: Marine Port, Colonel's Island RoRo, Colonel's Island Agri-bulk and Mayor's Point.
  3. Port Bainbridge, Georgia is an inland seaport that handles sea trade and cargo shipments to and from the Gulf of Mexico via the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River system. The facilities, located on the Flint River, cover 107 acres and are designed to handle both liquid and dry bulk cargoes via barge. Nitrogen solution, gypsum, cottonseed, cypress bark mulch, urea and ammonium sulfate are some of the main types of cargo handled at Port Bainbridge. It is owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority.
  4. Port of Columbus, Georgia is a small river port located on the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia near the Alabama-Georgia border. It is owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority.
